Highlights from 81st Formation Commanders Conference

General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presided over the 81st Formation Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ). The conference was attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army.

During the conference, the attendees expressed profound reverence for the supreme sacrifices made by the shuhadas, which encompassed officers, soldiers of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and civilians who valiantly gave their lives for the sake of our nation’s safety, security, and dignity.

A solemn moment of silence was observed, followed by the recitation of Fateha (prayers) as a gesture of remembrance for the departed souls. The forum underlined the unwavering commitment of the State of Pakistan and the Armed Forces to perpetually hold the shuhadas and their families in the highest regard, ensuring that their sacrifices will forever be commemorated with the utmost respect and dignity.

The prevailing security environment, both internal and external challenges, as well as the Army’s operational preparedness in response to evolving threats, were briefed to the participants. The forum also received a briefing on the structural changes and the adoption of niche technologies to enhance operational preparedness, along with the upgradation of essential logistic infrastructure in line with emerging security imperatives.

COAS reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty as a national obligation. He emphasized the deep bond between the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces, stating that this bond will remain central to all their undertakings. He also highlighted that the events of 25th May were a clear testament to this bond.

The forum strongly condemned unfounded and baseless allegations made against the Law Enforcement Agencies and Security Forces regarding custodial torture, human rights abuses, and stifling of political activities. It deemed such allegations as attempts to mislead the public and malign the Armed Forces for trivial vested political interests. Hostile forces and their abettors, through fake news and propaganda, have been attempting to create societal division and confusion, but the forum asserted that all such designs will be defeated with the full support of the nation.

Regarding the incidents that occurred on the 9th of May, commonly referred to as the Black Day, the forum expressed firm resolve to bring the desecrators of Shuhada Monuments, Jinnah House, and attackers of military installations to justice swiftly.

It was emphasized that legal trials have already commenced against the perpetrators and instigators, and it is now time to tighten the noose of the law around the planners and masterminds who orchestrated the politically-driven rebellion against the state and state institutions, aiming to create chaos in the country.

The forum resolved to deal firmly with any obstructions or attempts to hinder the conclusive defeat of these ill designs by inimical forces.

COAS stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and achieving excellence in the training of Army formations. He commended the commanders for their constant focus on the well-being and high morale of their soldiers, who are the foundation of the Army’s operational readiness.
