PM Shehbaz actively pursues third IMF meeting for crucial bailout package

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently had his third meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, in Paris. The leaders discussed a new financing agreement on the sidelines of the global leaders’ summit before the Prime Minister’s departure for London. During this meeting, PM Shehbaz expressed his gratitude to the IMF chief for recognizing Pakistan’s economic situation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fulfilling the loan program.

Despite the additional burden caused by floods in Pakistan, the government has provided relief to its people, according to the Prime Minister. He noted that the Pakistani people deserve relief due to immense hardships imposed by economic challenges. “We seek a balance between providing relief to the people and acknowledging economic realities,” he said, underscoring the importance of revitalizing the country’s economy to meet IMF targets.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the need for significant measures to restore an economy that suffered during the previous government’s four-year tenure. He added that economic revival would contribute to better achievement of IMF targets. Pakistan, as always, would fulfill its commitments and promises made to the international community, he affirmed.

The IMF chief commended the Prime Minister’s determination and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts towards fulfilling its commitments. In a Twitter post on Saturday, PM Shehbaz urged overseas Pakistanis to be cautious of false propaganda and disinformation that aim to tarnish the image of Pakistan and its institutions.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan celebrates and takes pride in the accomplishments of its overseas citizens as devoted sons and daughters of the homeland who hold deep affection for their country. “I explained to them the circumstances under which the coalition government took office, as well as the immense economic, diplomatic, and political challenges we have faced over the past year,” said the Prime Minister.

He also stressed the gravity of the tragic events of May 9, including the deliberate and calculated buildup leading to the Black Day. PM Shehbaz reiterated that Pakistan would continue to work towards fulfilling its commitments and promises made to the international community while seeking a balance between providing relief to its people and acknowledging economic realities.

The meeting between the Prime Minister and the IMF chief comes at a crucial time for Pakistan’s economy as it faces severe economic challenges. The commitment of the Pakistani government towards fulfilling its commitments and promises to the international community is commendable and highlights the importance of international assistance in overcoming economic challenges.

Pakistan’s efforts towards economic revival are significant, and the support of international organizations such as the IMF will play a crucial role in achieving economic targets. PM Shehbaz’s determination towards fulfilling these goals is a positive development for Pakistan’s economy and its people, who deserve relief from economic hardships.
